Senior Network Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Position Summary

As a Senior Network Engineer at Haywire, you will provide hands-on leadership in deploying, maintaining, and optimizing our network infrastructure. You will oversee network projects, mentor team members, and troubleshoot complex connectivity issues. This role combines technical expertise, project ownership, and team leadership, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, real-world networking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead network deployment projects including new site provisioning, upgrades, and equipment replacements
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, Wi-Fi systems, and network hardware
• Perform hands-on network troubleshooting for escalated Internet connectivity issues
• Conduct on-site visits to ensure network performance and reliability
• Collaborate with network engineers to plan and implement network improvements
• Maintain accurate documentation of network changes, configurations, and field activities
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support network operations outside standard business hours

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Networking, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Strong hands-on networking experience with routers, switches, and firewalls
• Solid understanding of core networking concepts: BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, and IPv4/IPv6
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff

Preferred

• Experience with Fortinet and Juniper hardware
• Experience in ISP or telecom environments
