Field Technician
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Pay Range: $22-$26/hr
About the Role
As a Field Technician at Haywire, you’ll be the hands-on connection between our network and our customers. You’ll install, replace, and maintain customer premise equipment (CPE) such as routers, Wi-Fi systems, ONTs, and related devices. You’ll also handle cabling and low-voltage wiring to ensure our residential and business customers enjoy fast, reliable service.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and replace CPE (routers, ONTs, Wi-Fi access points, etc.)
- Perform service calls, upgrades, and preventive maintenance
- Troubleshoot cabling and equipment issues
- Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cabling (fiber, Ethernet, coax)
- Terminate cables, install wall jacks, and patch panels
- Test cables and connectivity using diagnostic tools
- Install cameras and IoT equipment at multi-family properties
- Document all work (equipment serial numbers, service notes, network details)
- Escalate complex issues to engineering or NOC teams as needed
- Follow safety protocols and maintain company tools, vehicle, and equipment
Qualifications
Required
- Experience with cabling, terminations, and low-voltage installations
- Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and cable testers
- Basic understanding of internet/Wi-Fi equipment
- Strong attention to detail and pride in professional, clean installations
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within service area
- Comply with company drug testing policy, including pre-employment and random testing as required
Preferred
- Prior field service, telecom, or cabling experience
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards
- Experience installing camera systems
- Experience installing door access systems
- OSHA or safety training certifications
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
